Why take karate classes?
The majority of individuals learn karate for self-defense. Most of the time, not even those who believe they can protect themselves can! What chance do law-abiding folks have against a mugger, rapist, or hooligan when most of them wouldn't be able to handle a potentially violent situation?

Karate: What Is It?
As a Martial Art, karate mixes abrupt kicks and blows with fluid, flowing, evasive motions.
Power—both mental and physical—and the acquisition of skill sets are prioritized such that you don't need to be large and powerful to defend your family or yourself.
Because karate encompasses a wide range of self-defense techniques, it is understandable why it appeals to men, women, and kids of all ages.
Enhancing general well-being, flexibility, and total fitness may be achieved via karate.
How about physical harm?
Physical contact occurs in karate, and it takes a lot of luck or skill to not be bruised sometimes while practicing martial arts. The teachers continually work to foster technical excellence and self control since they are acutely aware of the possibility of damage. Karate has one of the lowest injury rates among any "sports" as a result; it is far less than that of football or rugby.
It gives you peace of mind to know that all of the Sandokai teachers are certified First Aiders in case you are ever knocked out during a lesson.
Every Black Belt (as well as the majority of Brown and Blue Belts) must possess a current First Aid certificate, per Sandokai Karate regulation.
Is karate appropriate for kids?
One of the finest pastimes for a youngster to engage in is karate. The youngster will learn to take responsibilities, grow more alert and self-assured without becoming conceited thanks to the strict discipline in the classroom. When you combine this with the health and self-defense advantages, it makes sense why so many parents sign their kids up for karate training. Children who can understand that karate is not a "game" are often accepted starting at age eight. A teacher complaining that young Jimmy "accidentally" smashed someone's jaw on the playground is the last thing we want to hear!
For the more mature individual, karate is also a pursuit. In their 40s, a lot of people started practicing karate, and
For how long can one be good?
Since every person has a distinct capacity for learning, it is challenging to pinpoint an exact amount of time needed to become proficient in karate. After just a few weeks of instruction, some of our students have successfully defended themselves in a "real" battle; others require more time. In karate, there's no "quick fix"—you receive what you put in.
Based on previous experiences, we've discovered that most students are almost ready to graduate with a solid understanding of karate and self-defense after around six months of instruction. A black belt may be earned in around three years on average.
What is the weekly time?
What is the length of a string?
Schedules for taking belts are predicated on the fact that many pupils train twice a week. It's fair for some folks to be unable to attend two sessions because of work obligations or other circumstances. Naturally, though, improvement will happen more quickly the more you train. People first train once a week, according to our research. Many people realize around the end of their first year of school that they need to train twice a week in order to grow at a decent rate; in higher grades, this is often three times a week.
Is martial arts suitable for self-defense purposes?
Absolutely. Our training not only focuses on the physical aspects of martial arts but also emphasizes mental discipline and self-defense techniques that can be applied in real-life situations.
How physically fit must I be?
Most new students—male and female alike—are unfit. Your instructor is there to help you ease into the course; they are aware of this.
Ask your doctor for advice on whether you are capable of participating in karate instruction if you are unsure.
Karate training has also proven beneficial for a large number of persons with various (dis)abilities, albeit this does rely on the specifics of your condition.
When may I begin?
Even the longest journey begins with just one step.
After the initial complimentary training session, each class (typically lasting two hours) is charged at £3 per session. We don't require direct debit payments or charge joining fees.
What should I wear?
Anything loose and comfy is good for the first round; a white T-shirt and a track suit work well. Remember, we train with no shoes on.
Before training, please remove any jewelry, including watches, necklaces, and rings. Even better, give it up at home.
